The history of the Estate.
Having grown up in the viticulture sector, having deeply expressed the wish to take over the family estate without any success, to the twilight of my career as a teacher, the decision was made: to exploit the vineyard which surround our mas (traditionnal farm) bought in 2004.
Full of hope, my childhood dream is being realised. My lifelong passion becomes my everyday work.
The Estate of Moulin de Descattes was created in May 2009.
Committed to the necessity to preserve our environment, by not using any pesticides or weed-killer, we convert the Estate to the organic farming.
We have two requirements: obtaining grapes free from all «chemical» contents and protect the environment from everything that could impoverish it. In order to regenerate the soil, we use manure and certified compost and we are trying to favour the development of micro organisms. Our vineyard are cultivated, ploughed which are permitted in organic agriculture.
Up to now, we exploit more than twelve hectare of vineyard with the certified label of origin «Côtes du Rhône». Our wines are issued from the following grapes variety: black Grenache, Syrah, Cinseault, Carrignan, Roussane and white Ugni. The white wine to be, will be enriched by the white Grenache and by Viognier.
The wines from the harvest of 2012, after 3 years of conversion, are bio organic wines, qualified by Ecocert (FR-BIO-01) .
